Glorious Grouse Original Felting
An Original Wool Painting of "Glorious Grouse" shows these wonderful birds of the Yorkshire Dales, roaming in the purple heather of the National Park. Harriet uses the ancient craft of felting to give depth and warmth to her compositions. Using only sustainable, Merino wool she first makes a fabric by wet felting the yarn, before “painting” on the intricate details using a fine needle.
Growing up in The Dales, Harriet is happiest when she is ensconced in the natural, rugged beauty of the landscape and its wide array of wildlife; they are the inspiration for her work.
Using a natural material to represent the natural world is both satisfying and harmonious, as an artform it is very tactile and therapeutic
The artwork is framed in a bespoke wooden frame painted in Lamp Room Grey and White Linen, with Tru Vue Museum Glass to allow the fibres to stand out.
The framed original measures 68cm (27 inches) x 56cm (22 inches).
