Beatrix Original Felting
Meet Beatrix, my wonderfully wooly herdy. She is made from 100% wool, wet felted and needle felted to capture her grey-streaked coat and fluffy white head.
I named this piece after Beatrix Potter, creator of Peter Rabbit, who adored Herdwick sheep and ensured their local land was preserved so they could stay in the area. To this day the breed can still be found roaming the fells in Cumbria. The Lake District is famous for them and it's all thanks to Beatrix Potter.
The Herdwick breed is some 10,000 years old and unlike other commercialised breeds, they are genetically still wild. They have a cute teddy bear appearance and are very friendly and often known as the smiley sheep that shaped the Lake District.
If you like this smiley face, the Original Wool Painting of "Beatrix" is needle felted using sustainable Merino Wool and is framed in a bespoke wooden frame painted in a Linen Wash and Scree with Tru Vue Museum Glass to allow the fibres to stand out.The framed original measures 62cm (25 inches) x 55cm (21 inches).
Shiping is free to the UK. Outside the UK Shipping will be charged at the price I have to pay, please ask if you'd like to discuss shipping to other locations.
Limited edition prints of my Beatrix are also availble in my shop, printed on part recycled, Perlino Cotton Card.
